The Clay County Historical Society proudly calls the historic Austin-Whittemore House home. Built in 1882, this beautifully residence stands as a lasting symbol of Clay County’s rich heritage. Once a private family home, today it serves as the heart of our organization—housing a museum, archives, and event spaces dedicated to enriching the Clay County community.
More than just a building, the Austin-Whittemore House represents our mission in action: preserving local history and sharing it with future generations. From vintage photographs and memorabilia to rotating exhibits and school tours, the museum brings the past to life in meaningful ways.
