Our Mission

Unite individuals interested in the history and prehistory of Clay County and its surrounding areas.

This is achieved through:

  • Preserving materials and records while ensuring they are accessible for research and reference.
  • Sharing historical knowledge through publications, newspaper articles, lectures, discussions, and the CCHS newsletter.
  • Offering programs that focus on Clay County’s history and families for both members and the public.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the Austin-Whittemore House, the Society’s headquarters, through memberships, donations, and fundraising efforts.
  • Providing genealogical and historical information to those seeking it.
